I have a summa cum laude degree in Mathematics and three years of experience working as a wedding and portrait photographer in Denver, CO. During that time, I’ve come to realize that combining programming and design work would be an ideal career choice for me. It would allow me to use both my creative and my analytical skills to create and maintain websites and web applications, which is the work I’ve enjoyed most over the last three years.
My background: Studying higher math gave me an excellent analytical toolkit. Outside of science and math, I racked up a considerable number of hours in humanities courses that demanded and developed very strong written and verbal communication skills. Writing my thesis allowed me to combine all of this while also getting thorough training in formal research, data analysis, and presentation. Add to this the time I’ve spent honing my creativity through photography and art, and what you have is someone who is not only eager to learn, but comes equipped with exactly the skills and mindset required for learning and practicing web development.
